Muistoja säästä on palannut taiteen ja tieteen kurssille Resilience – Integrating art and science in the phase of change (10. – 21. Toukokuuta 2021).
Kurssi järjestetään yhteistyössä Teatterikorkeakoulun, Taideyliopiston ja Helsingin yliopiston ilmakehän ja maapallon tutkimuslaitoksen (INAR) kanssa. Kurssi liittyy taiteisiin, yhteiskuntatieteisiin ja luonnontieteisiin ja se pohtii joustavuutta - erityisesti ilmastonmuutoksen kohtaamista haasteista. Kurssi haluaa meidän kysyvän: "Kuinka sopeutua muutoksiin, jotka tapahtuvat meille ja kanssamme? Kuinka kohtaamme ja elämme yhdessä muiden ihmisten ja ei-ihmisten kanssa? Mitä voimme oppia toisiltamme? Kuinka voimme taiteilijoina ja tutkijoina löytää toimenpiteitä ekosysteemin sietokyvyn tukemiseksi?"
Arlenen ja Stephanyn Muistoja säästä -projekti on osa kurssia aamutyöpajana (12. toukokuuta 2021). Tutkimme ympäristömme muistoja, analysoimme kollektiivisten muistojemme muutoksia ja suuntauksia ja keskustelemme siitä, miten näkemyksemme muuttuvasta maailmasta ruokkii meitä ymmärtämään ilmastonmuutosta, sen vaikutusta meihin yksilöinä, analysoimaan meillä olevaa tietoa ja sitä, mitä oivalluksia voimme saada siitä.

Story Data is back as part of the art-science course Resilience – Integrating art and science in the phase of change (10th - 21st May 2021).
The course is co-organized in partnership between Theatre Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki and Institute for Atmosphere and Earth System Research (INAR), University of Helsinki. The course will join arts, social science and natural sciences to ponder about resilience - specifically in the challenges we are facing with climate change. The course wants us to ask "How to adapt to change that is happening to us and with us? How do we meet and co-live with other humans and nonhumans? What can we learn from each other? How can we as artists and scientists find measures to support the resilience capacity of the ecosystem?".
Story Data with Arlene and Stephany will be part of the course as a morning workshop (12th May, 2021). We will explore our memories of our environment, analyze any changes and trends from our collective memories, and discuss how our perception of the changing world feeds us information to understand climate change, its effect on us as individuals, the analysis of the information we have in front of us, and what insights we can extract from it.
The workshop will be conducted by Arlene Tucker and Stephany Mazon. The course participants are a mix of natural science and arts and humanities students. We look forward to what we can discover together! We will update the page with new Story Data memory cards and insights after the course! <3

Tervetuloa Vaihtamaan Muistoja Säästä, sunnuntaina 25 marraskuuta klo. 13.00-16.00 Bokvilanissa, Arabiassa! Tämän interaktiivinen non-stop taide ja tiede installaatio on avoin kaiken ikäisille.
Vaihdetaan Muistoja Säästä kutsuu sinut tutkimusmatkalle vaihtamaan henkilökohtaisia tarinoita säästä, näkemään kuinka maailma on muuttunut ajan myötä. Tapahtumassa reflektoimme ja avaamme dialogia omasta kokemuksestamme ympäristöstämme, muistoesineiden kautta. Pajassa on mahdollisuus kysyä aiheesta ilmastotutkijoilta, jotka kertovat tutkimustietoa ilmaston muuttumisesta 1880-luvulta aina vuoden 2050 ennusteisiin saakka. Tämä tapahtuma voi tarjota toisenlaisen lähtökohdan puhua ilmastomuutoksesta henkilökohtaisemmalla ja konkreettisemmalla tavalla.
Ensimmäinen Muistoja säästä -tapahtuma järjestettiin IHME Contemporary Art Festivaaleilla toukokuussa 2018. Nyt on mahdollista käydä läpi ja tehdä johtopäätöksiä ensimmäisessä tapahtumassa kerättyjen tarinoiden pohjalta, sekä vaihtaa muistoja herättäviä esineitä. Tällä kertaa tapahtumassa voi tarinoiden lisäksi vaihtaa muistoesineitä. Tuo mukanasi keskustelua herättävä esine. Jätä muisti ja vie paljon enemmän kotiin kanssasi.
Oman elämänkokemuksen jakaminen ja toisten kuunteleminen tarjoaa materiaalia, jonka avulla voi tarkkailla ympäristömme muutosta. Vaihdetaan Muistoja Säästä, on kansalaistiede/taide projekti ja työpaja joka tarjoaa meille mahdollisuuden tarkastella tarina-tietoa tehdäksemme omia johtopäätöksiä ympäristömme muutoksista.

Welcome to Story Data Exchange on Sunday, November 25th from 13:00-16:00 at Bokvilla in Arabia, Helsinki! This participatory art and science non-stop installation is open to all ages.
Story Data Exchange invites you to go on an investigative journey by using personal stories about the weather to see how the world has been changing through time. Let's reflect upon and open dialogue based on our past experiences in context to our environment through objects and memorabilia. During the event, you will have a chance to ask climate researchers questions about the topic, and they will tell you about the research data on climate change from the 1880s right up to forecasts for 2050. This can be an alternative approach to step towards the topic of climate change in a more personal and tangible space.
Following the first Story Data participatory installation held at IHME Contemporary Art Festival in May 2018, now there is the possibility to sift through the collected stories and draw your own conclusions, as well as, exchange objects that trigger memories. This afternoon of story exchange can also be extended to object exchange. Bring an item that could be a conversation starter. Leave a memory and take many more home with you.
Sharing our life stories and listening to others provide the material to make observations about how the environment is changing. Story Data is a citizen science-art project and workshop that allows us to examine story-data information in order to develop our own conclusions.

This nonstop workshop intended for all ages brings together climate research, art and participants’ personal experiences. The aim of the workshop is to offer participants information and stories that will serve as a basis for developing their own stance on climate change.
The workshop will have seven information points representing different epochs, which you can go to to help you recall your own experiences of weather – the latest snowman-building conditions or waiting for the water to warm up for swimming. Objects and recordings of other participants’ memories will prompt your own memories. You will be able to record or draw your personal recollections. During the workshop, you will have a chance to ask climate researchers questions about the topic, and they will tell you about the research data on climate change from the 1880s right up to forecasts for 2050. The workshop will launch the more extended Science in Helsinki project, which will use the means of art to make climate-research data more accessible.
The workshop will be run by the artist Arlene Tucker and climate researcher Stephany Mazon. Languages: Finnish, English and Spanish.
